The manufacturing industry’s leading trade fair returns to Bologna in March with a new edition giving space to startups and innovative companies

After the success of the Focus Mediterraneo edition in Bari last November, MECSPE is preparing for the international edition in Bologna March 6-8, 2024, with an eye on young people and future industry excellence.

Milan, Dec. 11, 2023 – Innovation is always at the center, driven by the next generation to shape tomorrow’s manufacturing. It is with an eye to the future that the 22nd edition of MECSPE, the leading event for the manufacturing industry, organized by Senaf and scheduled to take place at BolognaFiere March 6-8, 2024, will open. After the success of the second Bari edition in November, the main fair heats up its engines and returns to Bologna with an edition dedicated to new generations and future industry players. A changing industry that requires new skills and new points of view, innovative approaches that only young professionals can offer to continue the journey toward a new way of doing industry under the banner of innovation, sustainability, and education.

For this reason, great space will be given especially to innovative startups, SMEs, and microenterprises, which will find MECSPE an important incubator to highlight their activities. The market of innovative startups finds fertile ground in Italy and will reach over 14 thousand companies in Q1 2023, with manufacturing accounting for 15% of the total .
MECSPE 2024, which now more than ever focuses on a program dedicated to innovation and technology for an increasingly competitive manufacturing sector, will therefore be a networking platform where young entrepreneurs, engineers, and manufacturers can present their projects and make new connections with the industrial world.
All are supported by the industry associations that have been accompanying MECSPE for more than 20 years, such as ASCOMUT, AIDAM, Confartigianato, CONFIMI Meccanica and CNA Produzione.

The space where startups will find their culmination will be the Start Up Factory, MECSPE’s historic event that over the years has been the stage for numerous small and micro realities.
The initiative connects high-tech B2B startups with a wide audience from the manufacturing industry by offering a rich program of meetings and panel discussions. An area tailored to foster dialogue between startups and companies of different sizes that wish to strengthen their competitiveness through innovation activities in a highly specialized setting.

This is just one of the many initiatives that will enliven the 13 halls dedicated to every branch of manufacturing, packed with exhibitors who have chosen MECSPE to present their revolutionary systems, some never seen before, to the world of industry, thanks in part to the advent of artificial intelligence, which is increasingly winning over entrepreneurs in the sector.

“We are returning to Bologna with an extra goal: to give space to the inventiveness and innovation of young people and bring value to the industry,” comments Maruska Sabato, Project Manager of MECSPE. Technology and environmental awareness have revolutionized the industry, and the new generations have an extra gear to face these new challenges. There is a need for discussion among industry players to build the best solutions together and continue to be the backbone of the Italian economy. Italy’s innovative startups have nothing to envy from the rest of the world, they are highly technological and creative realities that can make a difference; at MECSPE we are committed to ensuring that their work is highlighted and recognized, a crucial step for the health of the economy.”

The focus on innovative startups and SMEs will also move along the two lines, training, and sustainability, which, together with the theme of innovation, will guide the participants and exhibitors who will be present at MECSPE 2024, to compare notes, pooling their experiences, and creating new synergies that can bring added value to the entire sector in favor of continued growth, increased competitiveness, and increasing internationalization.
